6 Simple Ways to Build Traffic!

1. Quickly Get Links From Trusted Directories.
What does it take to build a healthy list of back links? It could take years and years of hard work in the SEO field or it could happen with-in a week if you have some $$. Link building is a long-term process with even longer-term goals, but everyone has to start somewhere. I would recommend that you submit your website to several directories that have been around for a while. If your not experimenting with your SEO work, forget the newly created directories that have ~100 or so submissions. Search Engines will regard them as spam, doing you more harm than good!

2. Start Blogging
Blogging, it took the internet by storm. Everyone seems to blog about something these days, everything from monkey-making niches to how long it took for them to clip their dog’s toenails (Yes, I’ve read this story couple months ago) Anyways, just because everyone’s jumping off a cliff, you wouldn’t do the same. Blogging isn’t for everyone, even though many try and fail and try again, yet fail. 99% of the so called “failures” have either lack of determination or no set specific goals. If you can get your head around these two barriers, blogging can be a great way to attract visitors on a returning basis.

3. Consider Paid Search
It can take some time before search engines recognize you and start sending you acceptable amount of visitors for your keywords. You can “super-speed” this process in a way, by using PPC or Pay Per Click. Programs such as Google Adwords allows you to set a budget and cost per click, that will cost you money (Obviously) yet in return send you relatively targeted traffic. It doesn’t work for everyone and you need  a considerable amount of $$ to see significant results.. but it’s always an optional option!

4. Use Article Marketing To Build Links Article Marketing or “BUM MARKETING” is been a very successful method of getting good back links, especially from trusted sources like GoArticles or eZine. Writing unique content for networks like them will provide you with good, juicy back links but the hard part is getting accepted! You should give it a try but before you do learn how it works:

  • You write an informative article on your site topic/niche.
  • Include an “About the Author” section as well as links in the article that point to your pages using relevant anchor text(s)
  • Submit the article through one of the many article syndication services (such as EZineArticles.com or GoArticles.com )
  • Then, just hope that you will be accepted “soon”. Obviously the more you write and the more reputed you become with a specific network, the quicker they will review your content!

5. Guest Post At Relevant Blogs
This isn’t really a “quick method” to getting traffic but nevertheless an important factor in creating an “authoritative” website. You will have to speak to people; fellow bloggers. Get to know them and form mutual relationships with bloggers that are interested in similar fields. Then you can suggest writing Guests Post at each others blogs which provides unique content to your partner, and a free back link for you! This technique can be helpful if executed properly, especially if you know a few highly ranked bloggers…

6. Sponsor a Local Event or Charity
What better way to expose your website to the wider community, other than by helping the needy or putting a smile on someone’s face? You can hold  a local charity or event that will promote your website. It might seem hard at first, but if your that kind of social person, that loves and cares for your community, why not?

Well there it is! 6 Simple ways you can build traffic to your new website/blog. I hope you can implement these techniques, and maybe even take a notch further up.

I’ve been reading a lot recently about these article directories. Does traffic from these come directly through the site, or by the fact that they rank higher in searches for the content involved?

Yup, because it’s a community based enviroment. There’s people just like you and me scrubbing those directories for information and if they come across your article they can either -

1) link to that article which links to your site.
or
2) visit your site and explore your content and repeat step 1.

These deep back links can be great for SERPs and that’s why it’s an important factor in SEO. Hope that clears up a few things Zach!

Good Luck

SEM adds up quickly and you really need to be competitive with keywords. Since I have a blogging blog (lovely!) Adwords has an option where your searches come from and Technorati is one of them.

Every once in a while I pay for opt-in lists that sends targeted traffic to my site. Mainly I get a lot of subscribers to my newsletter so it’s worth it.

Good traffic tips!

I stopped using Google Adwords because the keyword bidding price has been ridiculously high.
