Hiring a ghostwriter for your blog may seem like an easy solution to dealing with the daily rigors of blog maintenance, especially when populating it with content. Business executives, prominent entertainment, sports, and media personalities, and online celebrities do it, mostly for the convenience it brings to their otherwise jampacked lifestyles.
But will it be more of a help or a hindrance to you in the long run?
Hiring a ghostwriter means you will entrust your blog to someone else to handle it on a daily basis. Make sure that the benefits greatly outweigh the drawbacks before deciding that someone can handle your blog better than you can.
PROS:
- It saves time and effort. Hiring a blog ghostwriter frees you from the daily grind of blog content tasks. If you own a blog network, or are simply burdened with several other tasks on a daily basis, then ghost writers may be a boon to your efficiency. You may choose your own level of involvement in his or her input, but the bulk of the labor is on your writer.
- It adds to your online skill set. If you aren’t social media-savvy, hiring a ghost writer who is proficient in social networking, SEO, and other traffic-building strategies can help boost your readership.
- It allows you to expand your reach. Again, if you own a blog network and you want to transcend language and cultural barriers, ghost writers can help you cross them by making your ideas relatable and understandable to their respective local audiences around the world.
- It makes you look better. If you hire an expert-level ghostwriter, his or her work can boost your online reputation as an expert in your field.
- It gives your blog a fresh perspective. A team of ghostwriters can offer fresh insights and content on a regular basis, which translates into better SEO for your site.
Also, it’s easy to find ghostwriters who are more than willing to work on your blog. You just need to be critical in handpicking the right people for the task.
As tempting as it may seem though, hiring ghostwriters may not be the best option for your blog, for the reasons below.
CONS:
- It presents authenticity and transparency issues. You blog may have started off with the voice that you first established, but your ghostwriter’s individual style may lend an entirely different tone to your site.
- It can harm your credibility. Once your readers begin questioning whether or not it’s you behind your blog’s voice, it can ultimately damage your reputation as a trustworthy source of information.
- It may not maximize the use of social media. Aside from creating blog content, your ghostwriter may share it via social networking sites. But if you expect him to actively interact with your audience as well, it may be asking too much of him as a writer, not to mention that he’ll be using his own voice — not yours — to interact with your readers.
- It makes you dependent. If you rely on ghostwriters to perform your writing tasks too often for far too long, you can lose touch with your blog, and ultimately your audience.
- It is risky. Not all ghostwriters are willing and able to perform the tasks that you require, and generally you get what you pay for. If your blog is an SEO leader or bears a world-renowned brand, you cannot simply entrust your content and social networking activities to ghostwriters without substantial credentials, experience, skills, and a good work ethic under their belt.
If you are inclined to hire a ghostwriter, keep the following tips in mind:
- Formulate a solid blogging and social media plan first. Make sure your strategies for these are clear, and clearly communicated to your ghostwriters, so you’re working in the same direction.
- Be transparent. If someone will write for you under your name, you might as well be honest with your audience about it. It will help uphold your credibility and reputation.
- Your ghostwriter is your assistant, not your clone. Make sure that he or she understands that their skills will be used to convey YOUR message to YOUR readers. If you want to ensure that your message comes through without writing all of the content, you can opt to co-author articles with your ghostwriter.
- Your ghostwtriter is not your slave. Do not palm off all of your tasks to your ghostwriter. There is no point in running a blog, social media accounts, and your entire online marketing plan if you expect someone else to do all the work.
- Exercise caution when hiring. A good ghostwriter can make your message and voice heard online. Mediocre ghostwriters simply write what you tell them to. Look for someone with strong communication and interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, dedication to the job, a sense of initiative, and a sense of loyalty.
Good ghostwriters will complement your blog’s voice and spirit, and if you are fortunate enough to hire one, make sure you take care of them and reward them well for a job well done.

you’ve made some good points there. it’s a good idea !
great presentation and nice workout on article i appreciate about your hard work keep posting such wonderful articles….
My blog (fortunately or unfortunately) is too small (not enough readers) to warrant even a discussion of this issue. Nonetheless, great article!
I have a real problem hiring a ghostwriter. I would prefer to purchase quality unique articles and make them my own. Sometimes I can take one article I purchase and segment it into 3. However, I only do this when I really do not feel like writing.
Definitely have to trust someone in order to put my blog in their hands.
When taking any writer you can see the best samples written by him and you can hire him for writing services.
Thank you for sharing and for this nice information. I really appreciate your work, keep it up.
thnking you sir
one should hire ghost writer but before hiring one should do proper analysis. Ghost writer should be professional &honest to his job.
You said absolutely write we need to do analysis before taking any one.
Thank you for posting.Very well written.Waiting for updating.
Yo Florida I am with your thouts for this post.
I second all who have said one should hire ghostwriters. These individuals are quite helpful especially if you get the really good ones. I don’t know how my site/blog would be without my ghostwriters! Thanks a lot for sharing.,
Amanda
I have used ghost writers twice for one of my sites. If I don’t like the work, I can always take the core of it and make it a good article. So in the end I try not to stress about the quality of the articles, because I can always improve the articles versus me starting an article from scratch when I currently don’t have the time to write my own articles. I make sure to give details of exactly what I want, then I feel in conrol of my material.
Hiring a professional ghost writer is not easy. ghost writer should be true to his profession.
I have learnt a great deal of useful tips here – thanks for the postings.
yes, thank you for sharing the information to all..
Having been a “ghost-blogger” myself, I have to agree with everything you’ve written above. Ghostwriters can be both saviours and disasters, but with the right indication and guidance they can be of great, great use. I think most people should read and think about what you’ve written, because even though it might sound obvious, many people don’t take in account the actual risks, credibilty-wise, connected with the “use” of ghostwriters.
Great comment Dave.
Any individual can hire a ghost writer. A great deal of business professionals talk with ghost writers intended for completing their several writing projects (articles, blog posts, press releases, news letters, e-books, email activities etc). Since you’ll find different categories associated with ghost writers, hiring the right one certainly won’t be easy. You’ll need to be very clear as to what your requirements are generally, how much you intend to spend and your timeline. Thanks for sharing such a Great information .
wow! nice post. keep giving us this kind of post. i’ll be waiting..
Creative photograph and nice article must read and follow !!!
Interesting post and thanks for share this information.
I used to use ghost writers too in the past but their ideas diverge too much from mine. So these days I work alone! That’s the best way!
Thanks for the wounderful post…great work
Also, have someone else write will probably change the ‘voice’ of the blog which might be risky if your readers are expecting a particular writing style.
If you don’t have the time and cannot write efficiently, then hiring ghost writers will be highly beneficial. They know their work and deal with it everyday. It is the best way and a good investment too.
Great post here! I think a lot of people get overwhelmed when it comes to creating content for their website. Especially 6 months down the line after their website has been launched. Creating content for your site is always easier when you have experience in your niche and if you are passionate about it.
This is great information. I always try to make my headlines intriguing so they stand out and draw the reader in. Regarding bullet points, I use them, but in small doses. And I don’t always use bullets as the icon. A check mark seems to be better for me.
The process of ghostwriting a book is a long and complicated one. Even for a veteran writer, each new project begins with trepidation.
thanks for sharing this information its really amazing, this site has a lot of useful resources
What a clever cat in the picture ? I want to one of them.
If you are busy and if you are not that much good in writing then hiring a ghost writer is a best option, I know many bloggers who are totally depend on by giving ghost writing service, and they are earning really well so its a win win situation for both..
Thanks for sharing the list of benefits..
I can see for some a ghost writer would be a fantastic solution but for me the whole point of a blog is to share your own thoughts
Dear Carmela,
In my personal point of view i don’t want to hire anybody as a ghost writer .Thus it may be a good job however sometime it is a painful dealings with somebody’s. If you have time – then write yourself for your blog and then post. Thanks
Well i think hiring a ghostwiter is good. it lessen your work. I always make use of it in my niche site projects.
Thanks for sharing.
If the ghost writer you are in touch with has good experience, they must have also worked with several clients. Therefore, don’t hesitate to ask for a few samples of their previous work. Once shared, you can review those samples closely and to understand whether they have the quality you actually seek.
I have worked as a ghost writer before and I understand the risks and benefits of hiring a ghost writer. I really appreciate your post!
I enjoy reading through an article that can make men and
women think. Also, many thanks for allowing me to comment!
Hello Carmela!
Well, ghostwriter is a good option in certain ways but I have to agree with some of the comments above… when you have the time it’s better create your own content.
That is the best way to control the quality you are adding to your site.
I am doing this and getting great feedback from my readers and this is priceless.
Nice article!
See you!
ghost writer is a good article and it is easy to understand everyone. Thank u so much for u r article
I’d think that the cost of a guest blogger would be too high vs. how much you would make in advertising. There’s only so much money per clicks or views. I remember back in the old days of spin and submit that articles were going to cost over $10 to get something halfway decent and even then it wasn’t even readable.
In my opinion, if you are very sincere to your business website/blog, you must write every letter for your own. A hired person can’t give you that emotional touch to the content.
Thanks for sharing your ideas! I would appreciate though if you’d elaborate more on the matter as I think it does lack something here and there. But anyway, RSS Subscribed!
These are good ideas to give a trendy touch in a blog. A professional writer can fill the blog with innovative ideas and writings. Thanks for the post.
Great piece of writing. I have several ghost writers for my two blogs. Thanks for sharing.
