Here is a similar story

Number one, I talked about trying to do something online that you really love. Choose an area, a topic, a niche, an industry, that you have some resonance with, some appreciation for, some passion for. There’s a whole heap of reasons for doing this. One, it’s much easier to stick with it for the long term. Two, those who read what you produce and come across you will feel much more drawn to you if you are passionate about it yourself. And I just personally find it much easier to make money from something that I actually have a genuine interest in, because I’m able to produce products and blog posts and content that connects with people, because I know what turns those people on, and I know what will get them reading. I know what will get them purchasing.

Nice breakdown. Most successful internet marketers have more than one site and within their sites have a ton of different monetization strategies, all which add up to a big paycheck.

Anyone who wants to make decent money usually develops their own products and/or provides services related to their blog.

Great post. I have seen such a well-researched analysis of problogger before.

I’ve been watching Darren for quite a while. It’s interesting to watch Darren jump from one blog to another. It takes a year or two before he move to another project but it’s only after one is successful. One of the ways he is so successful is that he turns his blog into a community-driven content-generating machine. He rarely posts on DPS or Problogger anymore.

He also is big on diversifying his income streams. He does a lot of courses and products now on both Problogger and DPS. Very impressive to watch.

Trouble is, most of us blog about things that you can’t sell and if you can’t sell, you can’t make money.

I don’t sell goods, I blog on Public Speaking.

This guy Darren is a monster blogger. When I started out a couple of years ago I was glued to his blog right away. The thing that separates him from other bloggers is the true way he writes his articles with so much insight. He just has that X factor when he writes that attracts people and conveys a strong message.
