Some Sites Every Blogger Should Have Bookmarked

in Blogging Tips & Tricks

This is a guest post by Simon Rogers, a teenager from the UK who runs his blog Teenius.com, which is all about making money online. If you like this post, please check out his blog, or, alternatively, you can follow him on Twitter @teenius

If you blog, there are some sites that, in my opinion, you should bookmark. The sites I have listed below should hopefully not only help you earn some money, but should also provide some very useful information that will help you turn your blog in to a better place!

Twitter

One of the biggest sites out there at the moment is Twitter. Its capabilities are endless, but for a website owner in particular it is AMAZING. I mean, not only is it now one of the best ways of advertising your site, but it also gives you an opportunity to connect with other bloggers and build relationships. Like I say, the possibilities for it are just endless.

10 “Blogging Tips” Gods You Should Follow On Twitter

Need blogging tips or advice? Check out this list of 10 accounts on Twitter that post nothing but blogging tips.

  1. @Blogussion
  2. @bloggingfacts
  3. @BloggingTipsCom
  4. @blog__tips
  5. @bloggingHero
  6. @standoutblogger
  7. @problogger
  8. @HowToMakeMyBlog
  9. @Blogsessive
  10. @BloggingTips

Paypal

Paypal is one of the most powerful tools for anyone, specifically those who make money online. It is, in my opinion, the best payment processor out there and I feel everyone should have an account… heck, even my Gran has an account there! It’s great for selling or buying anything, and could come in particularly useful for selling adverts on your blog as it’s the most widely accepted online payment processor.

A Pro Blog

For any blogger, I would recommend that you bookmark and follow at least one of the professional bloggers out there. People such as Darren Rowse (The “ProBlogger“) has so much knowledge that he shares on his blog, it’s ridiculous. So, if you can manage to take in all that information, it’s definitely worth following them so you can learn.

Other Leading Minds in Other Niches

Internet Forums

Like professional blogs, internet forums are a fountain of knowledge and its well worth signing up to at least one forum related to internet marketing or blogging. They’re a great resource for whenever you have a question, being able to advertise your site (via the signature) and, like Twitter, it’s also a great opportunity for networking.

Forums All Bloggers Should Check out

What else?

There are other websites you should also bookmark, but they’re slightly more obvious. For example, your blog (so that you can keep up to date with the comments and so on), your site stats (who doesn’t love to keep checking them?!) and, of course, Blogussion and Teenius.

Your Turn

What sites do you have bookmarked? Do they help you at all? Please feel free to leave a comment below and let us know.

Thanks for the compliment, Farrhad :D

Haha, WMP is a great forum for sure and is an awesome place to get loads of great tips and answers to any questions (as are places such as Digitalpoint Forums and Warrior Forums), but there really are so many different places I could have linked to that I thought I was better off keeping it as concise as possible. :)

A lot of the sites I have bookmarked you’ve listed here. I love twitter, and I always visit John Chows blog as well as Probloggers and Shoemoney’s. I also use the forums on Digital Point.

Nice list.

Thanks for the compliment and the comment :D

Yeah, I think it’s important to follow at least a couple of blogging professionals as the advice they give is invaluable and is helpful to any blogger. Same with forums really (especially the bigger ones such as Digitalpoint) – you can get good answers to your question quickly.

oh oh ,Digitalpoint Forum is also recommended , But you should place it under category online scams and buy/sell link forums. there are many foums like webmastertalk , highranking etc which are far more superior than digitalpoint (just my opinion)

Don’t sound so apologetic about having your opinion! It’s what blogging is all about! :D

Personally I find DigitalPoint a great resource for getting instant answers as it’s such a huge forum, but I’m sure there are forums that are just as good, if not better, than DP. I guess it comes down to what you’re looking for from a forum :)

I don’t bookmark blogs, if I like…I subscribe. :)

Yeah. I think the problem comes when (like me) you follow so many blogs that it isn’t really practical to subscribe to them as it’s impossible to keep up with them. I prefer to just check the sites I like more often so that I can reply to comments and join in the conversation, and then the sites I don’t like so much will get fewer visits from me.

That said, I suppose it’s personal preference :)

I don’t bookmark blogs if not I’d be overwhelmed by the number of bookmarks and it would be impractical in the end. I like to add the feed to the monitoring alerts of Comment Sniper so at the very least, I get notified of the new posts and I have time to go and read whenever I want without being flooded in my Feed reader, or cluttering my bookmark page.

Hmm, that sounds like a great tool, I’ll have to check it out.

Like I said in my previous comment though, it just comes down to personal preference, and the system I use works for me, much like yours works for you :)

I think that BlogCatalog is a good community for bloggers, and StumbleUpon is a great bookmarking site for sharing posts to gain a lot of traffic.

Also, I just wanted to mention, this is the best application of the Thesis theme I have seen yet.

Yeah, there are loads of sites out there that are worthy of a place in any bookmark list, but I think that having the ones I mentioned are the most important/valuable to a blogger. Still, that’s just my opinion and it does vary from person to person. ;)

I agree with you Kikolani, BlogCatalog is a great place to meet bloggers and get traffic.

Very nice post :) However, I don’t agree with John Chow being a Make Money Online niche master. He’s more of a personal ramblings master. :p

Whilst I do agree with you that he can be a little “rambly” at times, you must remember that John Chow is still an inspirational figure to a lot of people and he does know a lot about making money online.

(BTW, Alex added the link, not me ;) )

Alex

Great list and there’s some new names on there I didn’t know about.

I also like http://www.kimwoodbridge.com – (Anti) Social Development which is quite Wordpress focussed but some very helpful stuff on the technical side.

Thanks for the comment :) (btw, it was me that wrote it ;) )

Like I say, there are LOADS of different sites that could be worthy of a place on the list, I could think of hundreds just off the top of my head lol :D I just tried to make the list as concise as possible without going into too much detail. Who you bookmark is really a personal choice, hence leaving the ‘forum’ and ‘pro blogs’ fairly empty and general :)
