Today I thought I would do something different here on Blogussion. In our articles, we talk so much about getting your community to interact with you more. I figured that since so many of us use Twitter, that I would put up a blog post where we can all share our accounts with each other. There are a lot of cool people here, and it would be great to get to know more of you.
For the odd bunch of you who don’t know what Twitter is, I thought I would briefly go over what you can use Twitter for.
Twitter is basically a micro blogging platform where you write your message out in 140 characters or less. It’s a great way to meet new people, and if you aren’t using it then you are missing out on a lot of great benefits Twitter has to offer.
There are quite a few ways people use Twitter to their advantage. The two biggest and most beneficial ways to use Twitter are the following:
Make friends
Like I said, people use Twitter to make friends. Making friends online is a great benefit to you, especially if you’re a blogger.
Marketing
You can use Twitter to promote any content from your websites such as latest posts, useful links, etc. Twitter users like @ProBlogger will always tweet about his latest blog posts, and even articles he is reading on the net. I’m sure it had brought in some good traffic his way, as well as thousands of other marketers on Twitter.
I could go on and on about Twitter, but I will save that for future articles.

I recently made an account on Twitter, and I hope to use as a tool for social advertising, even though I have been quite inactive on it. Overall, it’s quick, simple, and easy!
It’s easy to go inactive on Twitter, but hard at the same time if you know what I mean (addiction).

Just this morning I twittered about needing to find a narrator to help produce an audiobook project. Within a couple of hours I had three people, two of whom I was not previously acquainted with, contact me about working on the project. Awesome !

To be honest, Twitter isn’t all that different from other social networks. Social sites like Facebook can basically do what Twitter can do.
But, like any social network site the best way to market your product/website and get your URL out to the public is by building a strong profile. A strong profile basically means having a lot of friends that you interact with a lot through the site. Twitter makes it very easy for this interaction to happen, so that is probably why it is so popular for marketers and bloggers.

So if I understood you correctly, in a way the twitter is unique in offering a flexible interaction not seen with other networks, right?

In a sense, yes. It focuses more on how you directly communicate with other people on the site rather than focusing too much on customization, joining groups, etc. etc.

Yeah I am little bit late in twitter and still I am not capitalising the benefit which twitter is providing. Within 10 minutes every hot or sad news will be known to everyone.
I saw this when Asian City Mumbai got attacked. From that moment I realised that twitter is going to rock this world.
I have a twitter account for just about every site I own.
It allows you to send some quality traffic, but also to get to know others interested in the same topic as you.
Come to think of it, I haven’t got a twitter account for WPThemeKid, might have to make one now.
Anyway, nice idea to get some nice traffic

Free web-hosts suck in my opinion, like the hassle and downtime is not something you can cope just because it’s free.
What good is a host that’s free but doesn’t have your site online? Might as well not have a site altogether!

I’m sure they have a few packages that might interest you; not the most expensive service around either
Congrats for fostering the community. Janith, I’ll check out Hawkhost. I’ve been using Linksky and am pleased. They’re not the cheapest, but the uptime is good, and i can always reach somone within a few minutes.
