When I redesigned Blogussion, it was one of my goals to create something later on to make us “more than just a blog.” Today, that goal has been partially completed as I unveil to you Blogussion’s DoFollow Blog Directory.
I am pretty excited about this, because there has never really been anything spectacular here (other than the blog of course 
) and I wanted to offer you guys more. I feel like this directory is only the second step into Blogussion’s great expansion.
Why DoFollow?
The blogs contained in this directory are blogs that have removed the NoFollow tag from their blog, thus making it a DoFollow. Why would we base a whole link directory on blogs that simply remove the NoFollow tag? Because DoFollow blogs are the best kind of blogs to get your link on.
When you comment on a DoFollow blog and you leave a link, that link will be counted as a backlink for your site. Having a backlink to your site has many SEO benefits, especially if you have a lot of them. So I figured that the best way to collect these blogs who have graciously removed that “NoFollow” tag would be through a Link Directory.
A Little About the Directory
The directory is very simple and straightforward; the categories full of links are listed in a larger font, and when you click on it you will be brought to a page full of links within the category. If the category is a parent category and has sub-categories listed within it, then they will be listed at the top of the page in the same format as you see on the front page.
Browsing through links is pretty cool too. You can sort their order by either PageRank (default display), the number of hits the blog has received, or alphabetically. The links you click will go directly to the blog in a new window.
Submission
Submitting to the directory is ridiculously easy. All you have to do is fill out the required forms, select the category you want your link to appear in and hit submit. Your link will be sent in for review, and if it is DoFollow, it will be approved to appear in the directory.
It is free to submit a link to the directory. There are no paid options here, as I didn’t see that necessary for the purpose of the directory.
Help Improve This Thing
I’ll be straight with you – I’ve never run a link directory before. So with my little knowledge, the categories I have added may be missing something. So, if you think a category should be added to the directory, then either comment about it in this post, or send me an email and I will think about adding it.
Oh, if you go to a blog and realize it isn’t DoFollow – let us know. It’s possible that a few of the links that were manually added may have switched back to NoFollow.

The link to the blog directory take one to a 404 page.
Yeah because of spammers we have had to disable the dofollow directory temporarily.
you need to moderate your blog if you make it dofollw, but making it dofollow may also get you a lot of incoming links from other websites that link to dofollow blogs.

It looks like the list has been taken down. Unfortunately that seems like the fate of a lot of ‘DoFollow blog lists’. They get inundated with spam, switch to ‘NoFollow’, or even turn off their comment submission.
Running a DoFollow blog takes a lot of dedication to sifting and filtering spam comments, even looking at some of your own comments it’s obvious you get slammed with a lot of spam.
Seems to me there’s an opening for a sharp coder to provide a spam comment filtering plug-in that’s a little more advanced than Akismet which, based on the feedback across the Blogosphere, does a good job, but not a great job. Bloggers are still spending a lot of time deleting spam comments it seems.
On that note, thanks for keeping your blog as DoFollow. I’m adding you to Digg and Technorati (asuming they get their ‘favorites’ function sorted out soon!)
