I see this a lot when I visit relatively new blogs. Their sites are so loaded with ads that it hurts my eyes!
These bloggers have chosen really bad advertising programs, because the ads are dodgy and don’t even look credible. Some even offer crazy propositions that sound absolutely ridiculous, so it’s not hard to understand why they can’t gain a steady audience.
This post isn’t just directed at bloggers who overdo it with monetizing their blogs, but at all bloggers in general. There’s a reason why Google keeps changing their algorithm.
Blogging for easy money will make you lose both your plot and readers quickly. Don’t fall into this trap.
Passion
Blogging is about passion. Readers know a rushed post when they see it. It looks scrambled, out of whack and most of all has absolutely no or little flow. Organise your writing and readers will credit your work, especially through comments.
Sole Purpose
If money is your sole purpose, which is fine to a degree, then you really aren’t sharing with your readers — and sharing is what blogging mainly is about. If you’re going to give just scraps to your readers, don’t expect them to return, much less recommend you.
Be selective and strategic
Be selective with your marketing tactics. Be strategic with where you place your ad, most importantly, what ad program or service you use. Get it to work with your site. The key is to put as few ads as possible and keep them consistent and informative with your readers. I’ve also been on sites that actually have some decent content, yet they’re loaded with ads – and a lot of them aren’t even that relevant.
Engage
Engage with your readers. I assume (as much as I hate assuming) that your blog has comments, as most blogs do, so make the most of it! If you’re fortunate enough to receive a comment — and I’m referring to the sloppy sites out there, not to budding quality writers — then at least have the common courtesy to respond; who knows, that person may see a shred of hope in you.
Your First Priority
Your first priority is to produce banging content to get a banging audience. Do that and readers will flock to your site. However, even if you produce banging content, be patient as it takes time for readers to come, and don’t go crazy with ads.

The Discussion
Leave a Comment Read Again?Yep some times web masters are very hungry and do not think about visitors.
Very motivational post. I loved your point about “Engagement”. I’m a newbie and i’m not perfect but I spend a lot time trying to make my site as professional as possible so when someone comments I get all excited and respond no matter what. Everyone doesn’t see it that way so thanks.
Frantastically yours,
Frances
That’s excellent to hear, Frances!
IT can be exciting
I firmly believe that if you are concentrating on money making through your blog will just kill the blog in due course. You can never make a good blog if you are not sharing ans helping out others. It is as easy as that
Honestly, making money through blogging is a good reason to start blogging. However, money is not easy when it comes to blogging because “Content is King”. If the king is weak, then it will never be a productive blog.
Agreed.
People need to remember, if your site doesn’t provide the user with a good experience – your website has no point. Even if you can find a way to monetize it for a while, it’ll never be a long term project which you can rely on. Webmasters need to remember to keep the internet high quality.
Nathan,I believe that blogging is first and foremost about starting discussions and sharing opinions. To do that then the blogger must have something worthwhile and relevant to say, that interests his/her readers. The blogger should have a vital inerest in the niche they are blogging in, to show credibility and gain the trust of their readers, enticing them to come back to the blog. When you have that, them making money from your blog grows organically as your readers trust you and build a relationship with you
Hi,
Blogging is the most easiest and sharing options for any types of discussions. That’s why blogging is get first priority. That’s why Blogging is the easy to making money. Blog readers trusts your blog and you already build a good relationship with them.
Thanks
I agree with you.
Blogging is good. but it is alsopssible to try use the blogging experience on creating very quality content for other site or portal.
Well said. I also myself blog because I love to!
I think the blog is just a hand job. Because it is not 100% of the income of your life. In my country, blog is just a pleasure to show their love with everyone
It is true that Blogging is giving. The giving builds relations. You will be automatically placed on the plane of earning as you continue the process of giving. Selection of ad should be done as part of your value addition measure in a way that it will not annoy your readers or bring down your own image. You should not yield for any kind of ad just for the sake of earning money.
Thank you Nathan balyanah for sharing valuable information.I agree with you.We should follow only our passion.we should not think about money.if your work is best money will come automatically..money is just a by product.
I agree with you so much. I have a great blog, good traffic and great rank but still haven’t monetized it. I don’t know that I will because it completely changes the feel. We’ll see but it was good to read your blog.
Blogging helps me speak my mind, give and receive feedback, more ideas, we all have valuable ideas to share, it’s nice to be able to share with many people whats on your mind, so it is true that it’s not always about the money.
It really is sad to see all the new blogs sprout up every year with the conviction placed on them by some affiliate program. At the end of the year they’ve made less than $100 and have no idea what they did wrong.
I’ve been part of the blogging scene for nearly 11 years now, on and off through different domains. It’s sad how much has changed in the past few years – everything seems to be ads and sponsored posts now.
I love blogging and thanks for you great and informative article

Blogging helps me speak my mind, give and receive feedback, more ideas, we all have valuable ideas to share, it’s nice to be able to share with many people whats on your mind, so it is true that it’s not always about the money.
