This just got on my radar and naturally as somebody who runs an entire site with interviews, I have something to say about this. First I will say this. Interviewing is a skill and certain people can master it and others can’t. There have been times when I’ve been interviewed and in those cases I could see what you are talking about. Fortunately for me, I’ve gotten tremendous value out of the interviews I’ve done. I’ve learned so many different things because of them. So, I honestly think it depends who is doing the interview and whether they can draw out valuable information from the person they are interviewing. Not everybody can do that.

On your other points, it really depends. The lists that always interest me are the ones that are fairly personal where people tell you facts about them. Some people might think those are lame, but I think we get a deeper look into somebody through those. Definitely quite a bit of food for thought in this one

I’m with you… Let’s get real! Just write what’s in your heart or what interests you most and worry about the rest later. Or better yet, don’t worry about it at all.

Wow! I loved this article. I know that there are some really great reviews posts and interviews out there but I resonate with the fact that most of them are really bad quality rehashed “stuff”. I am a bit of a perfectionist myself and I don’t like publishing something that truly doesn’t benefit everyone reading it. That’s why I take so long to write. (Much longer than two hours, by the way.)
I think that writing about things that have given me a breakthrough of some sort are the best kinds of posts.

Just be honest to your readers, but you have to be smart to tell something to your readers, choose your words carefully but still honest and your readers will applause you.

It all depends on how much you trust that blogger I suppose. Some are honest, which makes for a great review. But others will never even list anything negative about what they’re reviewing in hopes it will make the product seem better for some to buy.

If you don’t want to write, you’ll probably post crap. So in that case, is it better to write or not?

There are plenty of great list posts definitely, I just hate seeing those ones with 100 bullet points and only a few words to describe your “point.”
