WP Robot — Powerful Content Generation for WordPress

by Alex · 35 comments

I have never gotten into the idea of generating content automatically on a blog, but that wasn’t until I did a little research on it. Auto content generation can be very popular for flipping blog websites, and creating some great blogs.

So I found out about a great WordPress plugin called WP Robot. It’s a plugin that you simply install into WordPress, and you’re set to easily populate your blog with great content. In this post, I’m going to go over with you my experience using this plugin.

First Impressions After Installation

I have never tried any other content generator, but I have to say that after using WP Robot on a blog that it’s probably one of the best in the market! I was even more surprised by all of the options available to you in the admin panel.

The options are neatly compacted into 3 sub panels

The options are neatly compacted into 3 sub panels

The WP Robot settings separate themselves from the other settings boxes and makes it easy to find in your admin panel. There are no options in this plugin that are not needed, and anything you can touch or customize makes a significant difference in how this plugin interacts with your blog.

As I went through the settings, I found everything to be neatly organized and easy to find. That’s a very important factor for a plugin with as many options as this one has — have an easy to use interface!

Going Deeper Into the Options Panel

I couldn’t find anything I didn’t like about the interface, and had no beef with any of the options and how they affected the blog. Here is an overview of most of the features that really stand out in the options panel.

  • Easily add keywords - The keywords you add will determine the theme of your content. Add as many as you’d like with ease. It’s just putting tags in your post screen.
  • Input keywords easily

  • Set a schedule for posting - You can easily set when your content will be posted. Set the time in intervals of hours or days, and your content will be generated and posted in the time you set it.
  • Choose post information - You can select what category the post will be filed in, and you can also set whether or not the post should be published automatically, or set as a draft you can publish manually. This is probably one of the most convenient features this plugin has besides, you know, writing content for you!

These are just my favorite features of the plugin, and they really do make a difference in how you use this plugin.

Quality of the Content

Like any other content generator plugin, WP Robot does have some issues I have seen in the content that is produced. But I will get into that stuff later on.

All in all, I would say that the content produced is very well written for something automated. I created a test blog to take a look at the quality of the content, and here are my thoughts on it.

The Good

  • HTML Formatting - I noticed some of the posts that were written came with some HTML formatting. “Top 10″ posts were written with unordered and ordered lists
  • Good length - I think it would be a neat feature if you could tell the plugin how many words to make the articles, but the word count on each articles created were over 500+ words, and not badly written.
  • Works well with your design - If you had a post footer like I have added below each post here, then it would be able to work and flow great with plugins, custom fields and other stuff.
  • Rewrite or translate (translation module needed) - If at first the content the plugin produces isn’t up to your standards, you can simply rewrite it. And if you really want to kick it up a notch, you can translate it to another language!

The Bad

  • Some paragraphs get long - One of the most important characteristics of a great post are short paragraphs. Some of the posts I created on my test blog had a lot of sentences smashed into one paragraph, and they really made some big paragraphs.
  • Author boxes are created - Sometimes after posts, boxes with information about an author are put under the post. I don’t know if it has something to do with copyrights, or if it is just added for realism — but I don’t like it. Here are some examples.
  • Author Box
    Link spam

  • Repetitions - This must be a common problem for scripts like this, but in different articles I sometimes see the exact same text that I do from another article. I know what is probably causing it, but for those who don’t — read up to “Tips for making the best of this plugin” further down this post.

Modules

Modules are addons to this plugin. With each module you buy, you can diversify what kind of content is written from different sites. You can read the modules page for more information.

You can buy these modules for around $15-$30, and there are up to seven of them:

  1. Amazon Module - $30
  2. Article Module - $15
  3. Ebay Module - $15
  4. Clickbank Module — Free
  5. Yahoo Answers Module - $20
  6. Youtube Module - $15
  7. Translation Module - $15

I personally recommend you look into the article module, Yahoo Answers and translation modules, if any at all.

Tips for making the best of WP Robot

Here are some tips I can give you after using this plugin for a few days on a test blog.

  • When adding keywords to determine the topic if your posts, always add as many keywords as possible to narrow down and keep content as accurate as possible.
  • In your options panel, make sure you set it so posts are saved as drafts rather than publish automatically. That way, if you see any similar paragraphs from other posts, or just want to make revisions, it will be easier to just save these posts as drafts rather than have the auto publish.
  • With the Clickbank, Amazon and Ebay modules, you can add your affiliate links from those sites. So any links posted from those modules will allow you to earn money through affiliate commissions!

This was my first time using a plugin like this, and I thinking my experience with WP Robot was really great. I really recommend you guys try it out, as you can really make a lot of money creating blogs with the content being written for you automatically, and even getting affiliate commisions if you use the right modules.

I just started building a new site for someone who has practically 0 experience with the Internet. I’ve been explaining the benefits of a blog, but it seems like she won’t have the time or know-how to consistently update it. This is a great plugin to solve that problem.

Also, I was talking to a guy last week who uses this or a similar plugin and he’s earning $100′s a day with the Amazon affiliate links. Thanks for the info, Alex! It seems like every article here is relevant to me.

That’s a great review Alex!!! What do you think content creation bots? I’m sure they don’t ‘create’ content..It must be ripped off from somewhere… So what are your views on this? What if someone rips your content? :)

I’m pretty sure there’s more to it than that. I mean, if they just went around ripping content senselessly then someone would have caught them and chances are, done something about it.

Hi Alex,

It sounds like an amazing plugin. How does it actually generate the content? Does it scan the web and then picks bits and pieces and rewords it or what? Cheers.

That’s a good question. I think depending on the module that it goes around and finds your keywords and somehow conjures up an article from there. But that’s just a guess! I have been trying to figure out all along how this works, and that’s the best hypothesis I can come up with.

Well Alex, I know the answer of it as I also got the chance to try that plugin a 2 weeks back. Basically the Article module is very simple to understand. The articles are grabbed from articlebase.com directory based on your keywords plus it also links to the original author site. Simple.. Isn’t it?

I know a little about bots and robots and I must say that such tool would not replace real human writing articles. I know that many human-made articles have no sense at all but the robot just fills the content with specific words used to create an article about everything and nothing. It can be very useful in blogs that are not putting pressure on quality but simply just need to have as many posts as possible.

The only reason why I would want to use this on any blog was one that I was going to flip, or just try and earn money off of through text links and other in-content ads.

I agree, this plugin couldn’t replace humans – but I don’t think people who plan to blog long term would use this plugin.

Cool plug-in. A must have for blog flipping.

I think that the author bio is included because the plug-in gets articles out of sites like EzineArticles which require a bio.

I’m also wondering about how it “creates content”. I mean, it could just conjure stuff based on what it reads on those keywords, but how do you know if it makes sense? Even if you proof read it, I suppose there’s no guarantee that one will actually be able to tell if it’s telling lies or not – unless you’re into that subject of course – or you have to go research it yourself.

Well, in some way, I would rather do without those “content bots” – the blog market is competitive enough as it is, having to compete against robot too will be a tricky battle :)

Once again, all roads lead to spinned articles, in this case, it has been grabbed from, somewhere. I really do not agree with the ethical aspect of this plugin, but if someone can show me this plugin in work, generating good conversions for someone, then i will be ready to change my views.

Thanks Alex,
Is there enough experience to check If Google dosn’t ban the automated content ?
Even the content is unique , we need to be sure that the crawlers won’t identify these texts as
faked ones.

The articles are actually being pulled from Articlesbase.com so thats why there are author names at the end of the article with links to their site. It even says so on WpRobot’s website. At first I thought Wprobot generates its own new fresh content but I was totally wrong. It just grabs it from somewhere else but does so on autopilot and it filters what you want shown. Still a neat software however.

Ok there are two ways to use this plug-in and make it actually work toward your benefit.

One: Set it on Autopilot and Save the Draft. Compile a ton of content without it being published.

Two: Copy these articles in to a new document and use Dragon Naturally Speaking to convert them quickly in to fresh new content. You also won’t have to dig around for info but will have everything you need in your hands for a new article.

Very true especially your second point, you could also use an article spinner and re spin it, and of course make any changes you want and have a handful of articles to post to articles sites and get some backlinks and increase your traffic even more.

I cant imagine spinning the article would be any violation of terms of service or anything.

Reply

Richard July 2, 2010 at 9:17 am

It is a violation, as it’s a derived work.

Getting caught, though: I doubt it.

Thanks for the information…I think this plug in is awesome…Even if the information is gathered from articles on Ezinearticles, the content being posted could be considered as coming from guest expert writers, which would give your blog more credibility… Thanks again

Wow, a lot of interesting ways to justify filling the web with yet even more useless garbage to make a quick buck. “Auto generated” and “blog” are contradictions. This is a scrapper site plugin. That’s all. And “spinning” an article doesn’t make it original or even yours. If you want to generate junk in the hopes a flipping a site and making a buck, then go ahead, but let’s stop with the justifications. A site that uses this plugin adds nothing but more white noise to world in the hopes for personal gain. It’s like if someone told you you could maybe make money by farting so you ate lots of beans and went around town ripping ones in front of everybody.

To the post above, I disagree with the “noise” factor. If you create highly optimized pages for exactly what someone is looking for, how can that be a bad thing?

I hate doing a keyword search, being taken to a page, and can’t find what I’m looking for just because someone keyword stuffed their meta tags.

I’m all in!
