Little bit of fun: Share your Twitter account with us

by Alex · 58 comments

Today I thought I would do something different here on Blogussion. In our articles, we talk so much about getting your community to interact with you more. I figured that since so many of us use Twitter, that I would put up a blog post where we can all share our accounts with each other. There are a lot of cool people here, and it would be great to get to know more of you.

For the odd bunch of you who don’t know what Twitter is, I thought I would briefly go over what you can use Twitter for.

Twitter is basically a micro blogging platform where you write your message out in 140 characters or less. It’s a great way to meet new people, and if you aren’t using it then you are missing out on a lot of great benefits Twitter has to offer.

There are quite a few ways people use Twitter to their advantage. The two biggest and most beneficial ways to use Twitter are the following:

Make friends

Like I said, people use Twitter to make friends. Making friends online is a great benefit to you, especially if you’re a blogger.

Marketing

You can use Twitter to promote any content from your websites such as latest posts, useful links, etc. Twitter users like @ProBlogger will always tweet about his latest blog posts, and even articles he is reading on the net. I’m sure it had brought in some good traffic his way, as well as thousands of other marketers on Twitter.

I could go on and on about Twitter, but I will save that for future articles.

Leave your Twitter profile in the comments

I am going to follow every person who shares their Twitter profile in here. You’re all part of the community, and I would love to get to know you more. I will post my Twitter account in this post, so be sure to follow me. :)

See you on Twitter, and get ready for a really cool article for tomorrow!

I’m one of the most valuable people you can ever follow. Just kidding:D But I’m following some of the most valuable people a person can ever follow.

Twitter is great for making friends. I’ve had quite a bit of fun with it so far.

I’ve been blogging about twitter a bit lately. It’s my most used social media service.

Valuable people as in top bloggers, or just generally successful people?

I’d say you are a “must follow” person. :P

Evan March 2, 2009 at 8:54 pm

I recently made an account on Twitter, and I hope to use as a tool for social advertising, even though I have been quite inactive on it. Overall, it’s quick, simple, and easy!

Alex March 3, 2009 at 3:32 pm

It’s easy to go inactive on Twitter, but hard at the same time if you know what I mean (addiction). :P

Sure why not though I don’t use it as often as I probably should: Civin

Just this morning I twittered about needing to find a narrator to help produce an audiobook project. Within a couple of hours I had three people, two of whom I was not previously acquainted with, contact me about working on the project. Awesome !

Seo blogger March 3, 2009 at 11:50 am

Alex,
quite a useful post, thanks :-)

I am not on twitter, but have heard of it a few times recently on forums.
Not quite sure, how is it different from other social networks and how you make your posts visible and read by others?

It would be great, if you could expand on it. :)
Thanks!

Tony

Seo blogger’s last blog post..SEO Fundamentals: On-page Optimisation

Alex March 3, 2009 at 3:40 pm

Thanks for the question.

To be honest, Twitter isn’t all that different from other social networks. Social sites like Facebook can basically do what Twitter can do.

But, like any social network site the best way to market your product/website and get your URL out to the public is by building a strong profile. A strong profile basically means having a lot of friends that you interact with a lot through the site. Twitter makes it very easy for this interaction to happen, so that is probably why it is so popular for marketers and bloggers.

I hope that is enough expansion for you. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Seo blogger March 3, 2009 at 7:43 pm

So if I understood you correctly, in a way the twitter is unique in offering a flexible interaction not seen with other networks, right?

Well, anyway, if quite a few you people are so keen on it, perhaps I should give a try. )))
Thanks for the post.
Good luck!

Seo blogger’s last blog post..SEO Fundamentals: On-page Optimisation

Alex March 3, 2009 at 8:57 pm

In a sense, yes. It focuses more on how you directly communicate with other people on the site rather than focusing too much on customization, joining groups, etc. etc.

Hope to see you on Twitter. Leave your URL here when you make your account so we can all follow you. :)

Seo blogger March 3, 2009 at 9:11 pm

Thanks, Alex, you are a nice chap.
Will do! :-)

By the way, your blog design is one of the best I have ever seen, Seriously, I am not flattering, ))) just an honest opinion. Added it to favourite. :)

@SEO blogger

Just a quick heads up, pal. I guess you need to do something about your permalink. It’s still in its default format. For SEO, it’s a no no.

Found your blog via a twitter link. Think it’s brilliant. I can’t believe you’re only 15.
Me? I’m more than three times your age & been blogging for two years since I left the UK to dance tango in Buenos Aires. Knew nothing about blogging when I started… so now I’m trying to learn. Recently moved my free wordpress blog to my own domain. The techie jargon sometimes feels like a mountain to climb but your straightforward blog gives me hope I can crack it!
And via you I found ‘Thou Shall Blog’, also great.

Joined Twitter a few days ago and I like it. Think by following the stuff I’m passionate about there, it can be my window from Argentina to ‘now’ in the rest of the world.

I don’t think my blog will ever be on the scale of ‘the money makers’, but it definitely helps those travelling to Buenos Aires, and has maybe inspired a few folks to live their dreams.
I hope your dreams come true. In fact I am certain that they will.

ps. If you’re ever in BsAs and need a non-alcoholic drink, since you are only 15, to keep you cool, then you could try these http://sallycatway.com/?p=1174

The other admin here, Janith is 16. We do what we can, and it looks like it’s working out pretty good so far! :)

Was it hard moving from WordPress.com to your own self hosted blog? I have never really messed around with that stuff and always wondered what the trick was to doing it.

ThouShallBlog is a really awesome blog. Janith had a cool guest post over there “49 Tips to become a better blogger“. Really good article, should check that out. :D

Lmao, I love how you refer to the drink in your post…”liquid sex”, “orgasm in a glass”…ah, how many times I have done the same to something I love. xD

sallycat March 4, 2009 at 3:56 pm

Alex thanks for your reply and article tip.
I’m afraid I had a friend help me with the transfer of the free WP blog to the new domain… beyond me. But am now working out how to use FTP transfer to manually upload plugins. It’s an adventure. Good luck with everything. SC

Yeah I am little bit late in twitter and still I am not capitalising the benefit which twitter is providing. Within 10 minutes every hot or sad news will be known to everyone.

I saw this when Asian City Mumbai got attacked. From that moment I realised that twitter is going to rock this world.

WPThemeKid - Daniel March 5, 2009 at 2:10 am

I have a twitter account for just about every site I own.

It allows you to send some quality traffic, but also to get to know others interested in the same topic as you.

Come to think of it, I haven’t got a twitter account for WPThemeKid, might have to make one now.
Anyway, nice idea to get some nice traffic ;)

Btw Alex, I am still waiting for a reply to my email :)

Thats the site you went to? Hmm, this is really starting to tick me off, haha. I guess 000WebHost isn’t what it’s cracked up to be. Should have waited until I could by regular hosting. I’m also looking at the feed thing here and it says a feed could not be found. O well you live and learn!

Thanks for following me on Twitter btw! :)

Janith March 12, 2009 at 8:42 am

Yeah that’s where I went..but now it’s down again :(
Free web-hosts suck in my opinion, like the hassle and downtime is not something you can cope just because it’s free.
What good is a host that’s free but doesn’t have your site online? Might as well not have a site altogether!

I hope you find a good web-host soon :)
We are using HawkHost and they have excellent uptime + customer service; if your interested Evan.
I’m sure they have a few packages that might interest you; not the most expensive service around either ;)

Blair Zykan March 26, 2009 at 10:10 pm
