I can’t help but feel that many of our readers found WLW either inadequate, not suited or perhaps even completely useless. Fortunately, the comments written for my first post on Windows Live Writer suggested that either it’s not worthwhile (because WP’s Editor is pretty solid) or it wasn’t Mac-supported. So, I’ve spent some time researching for different (and perhaps better) alternatives to Windows Live Writer.
I hope you guys might find something useful out of the following; perhaps something you can’t find in either WLW or WordPress’ standard WYSIWYG Editor. I haven’t personally used all of them (especially not the Mac ones) but after reading an array of reviews on each – they are too worthy NOT to mention!

Conclusion
All these programs are different variations of the same features, to be honest. However; that variation can be quite significantly important. Even though they follow commonly accepted WYSIWYG layout styles – you might prefer a simpler and cleaner program than perhaps a button-rich interface.
Not many people explore further than the editor that comes within Wordpress, but that’s fair to say – because the WP-Editor is pretty solid and has almost every possible feature.
Even I used to think like that, but just out of curiosity I looked into other alternatives. For some reason or another; it just felt better writing on a new and more stylish interface! Since I’ve found Windows Live Writer – I’ll doubt I’ll go back to the WP-Editor anytime soon.
It’s upto you whether or not to keep using the standard WP-Editor, but for those that want to spice things up a bit – these tools can give you a head-start in your epic quest for the ultimate blogging tool!

Qumana is the program that I use and I like it a lot. Its great for me because at work I use windows, but at home I have a mac, and its really nice that this program works on both. Its the best blogging tool that I’ve come across and it works perfectly for me and my situation.
I’m using Qumana to write the next post for Blogussion; and so far I’m really happy with it. I’m still foreign to the program though!
Just wondering if you could change the theme to software? Not a big-fan of the “Safari/Mac” theme to it =[
Nice article. I personally just stick with the WordPress interface because I think it’s extremely nice and works just fine for me.

Fair enough Caden, I didn’t like the WP Interface that much – only reason for me to start looking for alternatives. Just out of curiousity; wondering if the image-uploader works for you on WP?

Do the posts come up exactly the way you format them on WLW? This is the biggest concern I always have.

Only thing is – I have to login into the WP-Editor to set the options that Thesis provides. I can’t expect that from WLW because Thesis is just for Wordpress, and all of them are extra features
Never heard of these tools. But maybe I’ll give Bleezer a try on my Macbook whenever I am on the run.

I’ve been meaning to try something new for a while as writing on Word just doesn’t seem to cut it, especially if I want to include hyperlinks via code or something like that, as it always changes it in to an actual hyperlink and removes the code (which is ANNOYING!)

These tools will allow you to do things like hyperlinking and etc. so easily! You can even add attributes such as opening same window/new window and etc.
With WLW you can set a feature to autoamtically link the same words of a post to a specific URL (I havent tried it yet though) but it looks promisingly useful!
I’ve considered using some programs before but I find it easier for my purposes to just write the post up in my local install of Wordpress [using MAMP] and then copy and paste it over to the actual admin panel in WP. I think there are too many little options that I like to tweak and add to when writing a post to use an external program.
